What is Anchorage?

Anchorage Breakfast Program provides no-cost meals to more than 120 people per day. Anchorage is open every Monday through Friday, 52 weeks per year and exists to serve Lancaster’s low-income, unsheltered, and socially-excluded populations. Breakfast is served from 8:30-9:45 a.m. each day with a regular menu of juice, milk, cereal, eggs, toast, a hot beverage, and fruit.

Previously located at Saint James Episcopal Church, Anchorage transitioned to First United Methodist in August of 2016. In its first year at FUMC, the program served 33,603 breakfasts, or an average of 129 people a day. By the end of 2017, the program had scaled up to serving an average of 4,000 meals per month.

Anchorage Breakfast served 40,074 meals to our neighbors in need in 2018.

Anchorage has partnered with Community Aid
There is a collection bin at First Church. Anchorage will be paid by the pound for clothing, shoes, blankets, curtains, bedding. Basically, anything that is cloth. OR, you can take your donation to Community Aid and request that Anchorage Breakfast’s account be credited. In addition Anchorage will receive $300 worth of $25 gift cards quarterly for us to bless our guests. After six months we will be eligible to receive a grant from Community Aid. Since 2009, Community Aid has given back 11 million dollars to non-profits.
